The GWI selection committee recognized Aquatech's impressive portfolio of technology deployments in 2024, which included the commercial deployment of advanced vacuum membrane distillation (AVMD) technology and the DEFLUORO® electrochemical oxidation system for PFAS destruction in partnership with AECOM.
Further strengthening Aquatech's nomination was the development of the intelligent Granular Sludge Bed Reactor (iGBR) technology, which brings AI and automation to decentralized biological wastewater treatment. Through its QUA membrane subsidiary, the company also launched significant product improvements in modular ultrafiltration, frameless MBR technology, and scaling-resistant electrodeionization.

Aquatech's unique approach as a privately held company driven predominantly by organic growth and in-house R&D was noted as particularly distinctive in an industry increasingly dominated by consolidation and acquisition-driven growth strategies.
